El Herradón de Pinares-La Cañada, in Ávila, will host from June 17 to 19 the 5th edition of the Castilla y León Ornithology Fair Ornitocyl 2022, organized by Birding Ávila and with the support of the Ávila Provincial Council, the Board of Castilla y León and the City Council of the aforementioned municipality of Avila.
The appointment, which returns to ‘normal’ after two editions marked by the pandemic, will bring together around 35 exhibitors in which nearly fifty brands from different parts of Spain such as Extremadura, Tenerife or the Sierra de Madrid will be represented.
The event, which will be located in the same location as the last edition, when it received around 5,000 visits, will include family activities, conferences, book and documentary presentations, bird watching, astronomical observations and nature tours throughout these three days.
Thus, among the novelties, on Saturday, June 18, a documentary will be premiered about three women who fight for environmental conservation and also, for the first time in Castilla y León, a path included in the Natura 2,000 Network for blind people will be marked, according to explained the director of Birding Ávila and technical director of the fair, Felipe Nebreda, during his presentation yesterday at the headquarters of the Provincial Council.
For his part, the president of the provincial institution, Carlos García, highlighted the growth of this fair that “will be a reference for all those who care about biodiversity” and highlighted the “commitment to nature” of the Diputación, which allocates 24,000 euros to the contest, the second largest amount after the town hall of El Herradón de Pinares, which allocates 35,000 euros. Added to these are the 15,000 euros that the Board allocates through the Siglo Foundation.
