Police in Oklahoma reported that a 12-year-old boy was killed while sledding after he entered a road and was struck by a pickup truck in a hit-and run accident.
The Broken Arrow Police Department did not release the identity of the boy who died. Police said that the crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. when the boy was sledding onto Albany Street. A pickup driving west struck him, but the driver continued westbound.
Police stated that video and witness statements indicated that the truck was either a 3/4-ton or 1-ton white pickup with dark windows, extended mirrors and extended mirrors.
He was admitted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died, police said.
Police need the public’s assistance in locating the driver of this pickup.
Broken Arrow police said that another 12-year-old boy sustained minor injuries from sledding onto a roadway and was then struck by an automobile.
Police said that the separate incident in which a child-sledder was hurt occurred approximately 45 minutes after the boy, who was already critically injured.
“The vehicle could not stop after the juvenile was dragged a distance unknown. Police said that the juvenile was later taken by private vehicle to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Broken Arrow is located approximately 15 miles southeast from Tulsa.
