In the Austrian state of Tyrol, huge masses of rock broke loose in the Silvretta mountains on Sunday. The approximately 3400-meter-high southern summit of the Flughorn massif was partially torn away, as reported by the Austrian news agency APA, citing a mountain rescuer. Accordingly, the landslide occurred near Galtür.
The video of an eyewitness published by the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” showed how rubble and rocks thundered down the valley like a tidal wave.
The police then flew over the two-kilometer-long scree avalanche near the Swiss border with a helicopter, APA reported. There is no evidence that people were harmed.
