The 20th birthday of the neighborhood musical “Heiße Ecke” was celebrated with beer and currywurst at Schmidts Tivoli on Monday evening. “It’s really something great that has been created here in 20 years,” said Hamburg’s Senator for Culture Carsten Brosda (SPD). Celebrities such as presenter Reinhold Beckmann, musician Stefan Gwildis and television chef Tim Mälzer also came to the anniversary performance and made small guest appearances.
To date, more than 2.8 million viewers have seen the show in almost 5,200 performances. According to the theater, no other German production was played longer in one go than “Heiße Ecke”. Every evening, nine actors take on over 50 roles at the snack bar on the Reeperbahn: easy girls meet inexperienced boys, musical tourists meet scroungers, bachelorettes meet pimps who have actually wanted to leave the neighborhood for a long time.
