Italian Fabio di Giannantonio (Ducati–Gresini), will start in pole position at the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix, Sunday May 28, at the Mugello circuit. Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, reigning world champion, and leader in this championship, will start in 6th.
On Saturday, the 23-year-old Italian won the second pole of her career, and the first in MotoGP. This was his first year in the premier category. He will start in a completely azzurra front row, with Marco Bezzecchi (2nd), and Luca Marini (3rd), at his side.
Quartararo, Yamaha, was not at his best during practice on Friday and Saturday morning. However, Quartararo set the sixth fastest time in Q2, the second qualifying session. This took place under very dark skies and rain.
Johann Zarco, a Frenchman (4th on Ducati–Pramac), will also start on Sunday from the second row. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) will be joining him. This will allow the Italian team to claim the first five spots on the starting grid. This eighth round of MotoGP World Champion will be broadcast on Sunday.
