Police have found a body over the weekend following the mysterious disappearance of a woman in north-west England. The lifeless body was discovered in the River Wyre near where Nicola Bulley was last seen, police said on Sunday. It is still unclear whether the dead person is the missing 45-year-old, and the body is still being identified. “We are currently treating this as an unexplained death,” it said. Bulley’s family had been informed.

Bulley was last seen on January 27th. In their investigations, the police assume that she fell into the river while walking her dog and drowned.

The financial adviser, who has frequently documented her walks online, was last seen taking her nine- and six-year-old daughters to school as usual, then walking her dog by the river near the village of St Michael’s on Wyre. A short time later, her dog was discovered roaming loose, as was her phone lying on a bench, still dialed into a conference call.

The disappearance of the woman and the long search by the police have kept England in suspense for weeks. Bulley’s family questioned the suicide or accident hypothesis and feared she had been kidnapped.
