The diagnosis of “scarlet fever” in their son would actually have been enough for the parents. But when the mother enters the first pharmacy in a major German city with the prescription for a juice containing penicillin, a nerve-wracking search begins. The pharmacy doesn’t have the medication. With the sick child in hand and another son, the mother visits one pharmacy after another. Without success. An employee explains to her that she doesn’t know which branch still has the medicine. The companies are not networked with each other. There are also other antibiotic juices. The doctor would then have had to write this down on the prescription.
