After the death of an infant in Schwerin, there are increasing indications of a crime. As a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor announced on Wednesday, the newborn died of severe head injuries. It lived before.

The autopsy report suggests that the girl hit the ground from a great height. Such serious injuries could not be attributed to the child possibly falling out of the arm. The spokeswoman for the authorities did not want to provide any further information, with reference to the ongoing investigation against the mother.

The child’s body was found early Friday morning by a resident in the backyard of an apartment building in Schwerin, who then alerted the authorities. However, any help came too late for the newborn.

A 25-year-old woman from Schwerin was identified as the mother on the same day. According to the police, she stayed in the multi-storey house in Feldstadt, a district in the center of Schwerin, on Friday, but did not live there.

The woman is being investigated on suspicion of manslaughter. She is in custody and, according to the public prosecutor, was also questioned about the events. Details were also not given with reference to the ongoing investigations.
