Many people associate a supposed party drug like ecstasy with big cities like Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. But since Monday this week, the chemical drug has been linked to a small town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In Altentreptow, 13-year-old Finja died on Monday from a high-dose ecstasy pill called “Blue Punisher”. Now her parents are going public for the first time and are certain: “Finja didn’t take the pill voluntarily.”

In an interview with “stern TV am Sonntag” Finja’s parents report on their daughter’s last days. Only shortly before her own death did Finja see a friend collapse. She had seizures and shortness of breath and was therefore taken to the hospital. The cause: drug use.

Finja then came to her family in a panic and told her about it, they say in conversation. They dealt with the incident together and both parents warned their 13-year-old daughter about the addictive substances. The parents say she was scared to death. That’s why they’re also convinced that Finja probably didn’t take the pill voluntarily, they report on “stern TV am Sonntag”: “She definitely didn’t do it voluntarily.”

Particularly tragic: Finja and her friend are currently not the only young people who have been harmed by ecstasy, even if not every case ended fatally. Two other teenagers from Neubrandenburg, girls aged 14 and 15, were hospitalized this week after using the drug, but have since been released. The death of an 18-year-old in Saxony-Anhalt was also announced on Friday, probably also from ecstasy. And last weekend, a 15-year-old also died from a chemical drug overdose.

It is not yet clear whether all of those affected had previously consumed “Blue Punisher”. But the many cases within just a few days show the danger of the chemical drug. That’s why Finja’s parents make an emotional appeal to other children and young people on the show: “Don’t take any colored pills! If something is offered, don’t accept it! Go away, call the police! It mustn’t happen again that someone dies because of this stuff .”
