Police are still searching for a convicted murderer who escaped from a prison in Baden-Württemberg. A spokeswoman for the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) said this in the morning.
The 43-year-old ran away last Monday during a guarded trip to a quarry lake in Germersheim (Rhineland-Palatinate). He was supposed to meet his wife and children there under the supervision of two correctional officers. Since then, the police have been searching extensively for the murderer. The German-Kazakh was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Karlsruhe Regional Court in 2012. He has so far served his sentence in Bruchsal prison.
The investigators have already followed up on several leads, as the LKA announced. These include statements from witnesses who claim to have seen the fleeing murderer. The police and public prosecutor’s office announced on Friday that investigations were being carried out in all directions and in some cases covertly.
