Six vacationers from Germany, who are being investigated for possible gang rape, will appear before the judge in Mallorca on Saturday. If the court were to order pre-trial detention because of the evidence, the young men could face up to weeks behind bars. The police accuse at least some of them of raping an 18-year-old German tourist. The Spanish newspaper “Última Hora” reported the day before, citing investigative circles, that the police had found videos of the rape on the cell phones of those arrested.
The police said that one of the six men had met a German on Thursday night in the party stronghold at Ballermann. Both would have had consensual sex in a hotel room. The woman was later raped by some of the man’s five German friends. The woman was eventually able to escape and, with the help of the hotel receptionist, alerted the police, who arrested five of the men at 3:40 a.m. on Thursday morning. The sixth suspect was arrested on Friday.
“Última Hora” reported, citing investigative circles, that the woman initially went to the man’s hotel voluntarily, but was turned away because she was not a guest. The man then went with her to a neighboring hotel where friends of his were staying. When they came later, the woman had consensually had sex with two other men, but rejected the other three. Then she was raped. Where in Germany the arrested and the victim came from was initially unknown. One of the suspects has Turkish citizenship.
