Baking cinnamon rolls is like meditation: melting butter. Warm milk. Dissolve yeast. Mix the dough. Knead dough. Let the dough rise. Knead the dough again. Roll dough. Spread dough. Roll dough. Watch the cinnamon rolls baking. Inhale the cinnamon roll scent. Breathe in. Exhale.
But as beautiful as the ritual of baking cinnamon rolls is, sometimes it just has to happen quickly. Then there is no yeast in the house or the patience to give the sweet pastry its well-deserved rest. This recipe produces aromatic cinnamon rolls at the push of a button, without any yeast and still vegan. The best thing: you don’t have to miss out on the seductive scent of the Kanelbullar, nor do you have to miss out on the uniquely airy dough. A recipe for quick connoisseurs.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top and bottom heat. Grease and lightly flour a 12-cavity muffin tin. Alternatively, you can also use a baking dish.
Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom) and salt in a bowl. Fold in the margarine until a crumbly dough forms. Finally add the oat drink and knead everything into a homogeneous, smooth dough. If the dough is too dry, add a dash of oat drink.
Flour the work surface. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Mix cinnamon and sugar together. Spread the dough evenly with the margarine, this is best done with a kitchen brush. Sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Roll up the dough from the long side. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough roll into 12 pieces. Place the dough rolls into the prepared muffin tins or place them side by side in the baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for about 20 to 25 minutes. Stick sample. As soon as the dough no longer sticks to the stick and the snails are golden brown, remove them from the oven.
Mix the icing: To do this, sift the powdered sugar and stir it with the oat drink until smooth. Don’t use too much liquid here, otherwise the icing won’t thicken.
Remove the cinnamon rolls from the molds while they are still warm and garnish with the icing.
As soon as the icing is hard, the cinnamon rolls can be enjoyed.
