According to the organizers, the leading international trade fair for board games, Spiel ’22, attracted around 147,000 board game fans from all over the world to Essen over four days.

This is 53 percent more than in the previous year, reported the organizing Friedhelm-Merz-Verlag (Bonn) at the end of the trade fair on Sunday. However, significantly more corona-related restrictions applied in 2021.

According to the organizers, the fair had presented a record range of around 1800 new products for card, board and dice games. The balance sheet shows: “The enthusiasm for board and parlor games is unbroken,” said the publisher.

Due to the positive feedback that the 980 exhibitors from 56 countries took away from their rounds of games, they were “optimistic about the coming Christmas business”.
