After an accident in the drinking water supply in Mildenau (Erzgebirge district), the fire brigade called on people to stock up on water. Otherwise, they should be particularly economical with water for the time being. The background was a leak at an initially unknown location. As a result, water is escaping and elevated tanks are threatening to run empty in the foreseeable future, said community fire chief Michael Schreiter on Saturday of the German Press Agency. Around 2,000 residents in the main town were affected. In the evening, the fire brigade announced that the leak had been localized in the drinking water network. The affected households were therefore informed by the municipal administration.

A special situation was declared because of the incident. According to the information, the fire brigade, building yard and water supplier are working flat out to find and eliminate the leak. According to Schreiter, further steps are also being discussed to ensure the water supply for the people.
