Since Thursday, the two managing directors of the construction company have had to answer to the district court in Landsberg for the death of four workers in a ceiling collapse on a construction site. At the beginning of the trial, the two defendants stated that they were very sorry for the death of their employees. Both did not comment on the details.
Statements by their defense attorneys indicate that the two men do not blame themselves for the accident.
In October 2020, a ceiling collapsed during concrete work on the construction site in Denklingen. A 16-year-old youth, a 34-year-old and two 37-year-olds who were working on and under the concrete pavement were trapped by debris and liquid concrete and died. Another construction worker was injured.
The accused are the 64-year-old boss of the family business and his 30-year-old son. It was about a new building by the construction company itself. The public prosecutor’s office accuses the two men of having had a defective support structure erected during the construction work, which caused the ceiling to collapse. Therefore, they are said to have caused the deaths of the workers negligently.
