The ONCE of Almeria will promote Laura Diepstraten as a singer and she will be participating in the 17 Biennial of Music of the National Organization for the Blind of Spain.

Diepstraten will be opening the musical event. She will also participate in the concert “La ONCE sings To Teruel”, which will be held tomorrow at Teatro Marin. Aminah, Xiara and Allegro Coral from Valencia will accompany her, taking them on a journey through their new Latin American project. The Almeria-born artist will close the choir with her well-known song, ‘Another Vision’.

Laura Diepstraten will also attend the ‘Night of Pop-Rock’ concert, which will include several artists promoted by ONCE. It will take place at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3.

Only 15-year-old Almeria girl became famous when she won the Euro Low Vision contest, which is the Eurovision Song Contest for artists who have low vision or blindness. It was held one year ago. Laura Diepstraten was a participant with the theme “Another Vision”, which she had written. She managed to keep first place with 27.55% of 7,055 votes electronically, with 1,944 scores. Turkey added 21%.

Laura was the youngest participant from the 17 countries. She competed alongside singers and groups with a long music career. All of them were made up of people with severe visual impairment or blindness.

“Another Vision” is a story by her that shows the point of view of a blind person in their early years and how they see differently to other sighted people.

Blind since birth, Diepstraten is currently studying a professional piano degree at the conservatory while finishing her secondary education. He was eight years old when he won the Musical Contest at the ONCE of Andalusia for his solo interpretation of Malu’s song ‘Blanco y Negro’. At 10 years old, he took part in the program Fenomeno Fan’ (Canal Sur TV) and as a contestant with Rosario Flores’ 11-member ‘La Voz Kids’.

17 ONCE Music Biennial

The 17th ONCE Music Biennial, which will take place in 7 cities and towns across Aragon over the course of four days, will be accompanied by a diverse lineup of artists and groups with low vision and blindness, as well as more than 200 musicians of various styles musicals.

The Biennial will be based in Zaragoza and will have its inauguration in Teruel (on May 2) and close in Aragonese capital (on June 5). It will also reach Huesca and Calatayud as well as Ejea de los Caballeros and Alcaniz.

The 17th ONCE Music Biennial returns to the region, having been delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, the original essence of the Biennial is maintained with outstanding new additions to the program.

ONCE promotes the participation of visually impaired artists who will perform a variety of musical styles. They are accompanied by the orchestra and choirs, who are a tradition at all ONCE Music Biennials.

On Friday, June 3, the ONCE Cuponazo will feature the image of 17 ONCE Music Biennial. Thanks to that, Aragon will reach all corners of Spain through the 13 and a 1/2 million coupons that the Organization will distribute for the draw.
