A man died in hospital in Landstuhl near Kaiserslautern after police used a Taser. According to police on Wednesday, the exact cause of the 38-year-old’s death has not yet been determined. A possible connection between the use of the stun gun and the man’s death is now being investigated. Officials announced on Wednesday that an investigation had been initiated against two police officers on suspicion of negligent homicide.
According to a police statement, the man’s relatives called the emergency services on Tuesday evening because the 38-year-old was causing a disturbance and cutting himself. The police went to the man’s apartment – when the 38-year-old attacked them there, the officers used the taser.
The man then lost consciousness. The police resuscitated him until the emergency services arrived. The man’s body will now be examined forensically.
