Cult actor Terence Hill is happy about a German passport. “My wonderful mother and thus my mother tongue have always had an impact on me. I’m happy that I now have this ID,” said the 83-year-old from the “Bild” newspaper. “It’s also a commitment to my roots.” According to the report, the Italo-Western hero, who still speaks fluent German today, had the document issued in the USA: “I received it from the German Consul General in LA,” Hill was further quoted as saying. His mother’s marriage certificate was required for the passport, which he received in Lommatzsch near Dresden.
Mario Girotti, as the real name of the son of a woman from Lommatz and an Italian, spent a few years of his childhood in the village from 1943 to 1947. Hill was born in Venice. According to the “Bild” report, the Italian with the steel blue eyes also has an ID card from his country of birth. The blonde mime became world famous with western parodies such as “Four Fists for a Hallelujah” alongside his gruff buddy and Italian compatriot Bud Spencer (1929-2016). A Terence Hill Museum opened in Lommatzsch in 2019.
