LUCKNOW (India) — A fire broke out in a northern Indian chemical factory, resulting in the deaths of eight workers and more than a dozen injuries, according to police.
According to Pravin Kumar, a senior police officer, the fire started after a boiler in the factory in Hapur in Uttar Pradesh state exploded. He said that three of the injured were in critical condition and had been taken to hospital.
Ajay Mishra (a rescue worker) said that the explosion blew off the roof of the factory.
An investigation was ordered by authorities.
43 people were killed in an electrical short-circuit at a New Delhi factory that produces handbags and other products. 17 people were also killed in another major fire in New Delhi, which occurred in an illegal rooftop kitchen on the sixth floor of a building.
