Die Tradition:

Already in antiquity cabbage was used for external dressings. The Roman statesman Marcus Porcius Cato (234–149 BC) recommended in “De agri cultura” the application of ground cabbage to wounds and ulcers as well as to dislocations: “And if anything is dislocated, warm it with warm water twice a day , put shredded cabbage on it; it will heal it quickly.”
