The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau have achieved a breakthrough in the fight to stay in the league. Coach Norman Rentsch’s protégés won the basement duel against bottom team Sport-Union Neckarsulm on Saturday with 32:25 (15:13). Ema Hrvatin (8/3), Laura Szabo (6/1) and Emma Montag (5) played the largest role in BSV’s fifth win of the season. Nina Engel (6) and Amber Verbraeken (5/2) scored the most goals for the guests.

The hosts got off to a bad start in this groundbreaking duel, trailing 6:9 after 17 minutes and trailing until 11:12 (24th). The team from Saxony initiated the turnaround with a 6:1 run to 17:13 (33rd). Nevertheless, from the 19:19 equalizer (41′) to 24:22 (48′), the game was on a knife’s edge. With three goals in a row within three minutes, the Zwickau team decided the duel in their favor. In this phase, BSV goalkeeper Caroline Martins held on to the victory, parrying a total of 15 throws from the guests during the game.
