Two cars were completely burned out after an accident in Hamburg’s Elbe Tunnel. According to the fire department, six people were taken to hospitals with injuries, and 53 people were also taken out of the tunnel by the fire department.

A total of three cars with seven occupants were involved in the accident in the first tube of the Elbe Tunnel heading north. A police spokeswoman said it was probably a rear-end collision. Immediately after the collision, two of the vehicles caught fire, the cause of which was initially unclear.

The Elbe Tunnel was temporarily closed in both directions on Thursday morning, but the two tubes to the south and the unaffected tube to the north were soon reopened.
