The police cleared a school complex in Gelsenkirchen after an anonymous threat. The action is still ongoing, there are numerous emergency services on site, said a spokesman on Wednesday afternoon. The anonymous threat, which the police classify as serious, was received in the morning.

“The safety of the students and teachers is our top priority,” the spokesman said. So far there is no evidence that anyone was harmed. The security concept was “fully worked out”. The school complex includes a comprehensive school and a primary school. The police were initially unable to say exactly how many people were affected.

Several media reported about an amok threat. The police spoke of an anonymous threat and gave no details. The eviction was “orderly and very quiet,” it said. According to “Bild”, exams had to be postponed because of the alarm.
