The almost spring-like weather of the past few days in many places is over for the time being. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), a cold front with minus degrees and snowfalls is moving across Germany towards the weekend. “The weather situation will change in the coming days. Late winter will come to the country again,” said a DWD meteorologist in Offenbach on Wednesday.

The impending weather change with clouds and the first showers will already be announced on Thursday. Only in the south-west and on the North Sea will the sun first appear locally. But then the arctic cold air comes – and with it the temperatures go down. The result: “The precipitation turns into snow – first in the mountains, there and on the edge of the Alps it will be really wintry again,” said the meteorologist.

There may be a few wet snowflakes even at lower elevations as the weekend progresses. The lowest temperatures oscillate around the freezing point, and there is widespread frost again at night. “So that means scratching the windshield in a thick winter coat again in the morning,” said the meteorologist.
