The Berlin soccer player Hany Mukhtar sees further potential for improvement after his strong last season in the North American league MLS and the award for the most valuable player. “I had an incredible season in 2021 and improved it in 2022,” said the Nashville SC professional of the German Press Agency before the start on Saturday. “I think my last season was good, but I can definitely play better. I’m trying to build on that.”
Mukhtar was the top scorer in Major League Soccer last season with 23 goals and was the first German to be voted the most valuable player in the main round in the US professional league. He doesn’t rule out a repeat: “I like to score goals, and that also gets you talking about the MVP.”
Nashville meets New York City FC in the first game of the season this Saturday (10:30 p.m. CET). “What we have done in this city is fascinating. People are happy that the season is starting again,” he said. Season ticket sales were very good.
