FM Logistic has expanded its facilities hand in hand with its sister company NG concept, a construction and engineering company belonging to the same group.
Given the great expansion of FM Logistic Ibérica, which encompasses Spain and Portugal, and the landing of new clients in recent years, it has had to continue with its plan to build and expand new modules in its Illescas warehouse. Construction has begun on modules B9 and B10, which will have 18,000 square meters (8,000 and 10,000 square meters, respectively), which will complete their works at the beginning of 2023. «These modules are the consequence of the forecast arrival of new clients to FM Logistic and the need to have more space for its operations”, adds the project manager of NG Concept, Maxime Piperel.
“We are very happy with the expansion of our warehouse. That means that we continue to grow and that we are on the right track. In addition to expanding the space for our operations, we will soon also expand the photovoltaic panels on the roof of our warehouse, going from 100 kilowatts to 500 kilowatts of power”, argues the Operations Director of FM Logistic Illescas, Álvaro Íñiguez.
Due to this great growth of FM Logistic in terms of turnover and activity, it has also had an impact on the number of contracts. For this reason, it has also had to expand the common and work areas, which translates into the construction of a new office, between the new module B9 and B10, with an area of 660 square meters, which will also be available at the beginning of the next year.
“With the idea of giving our employees the best possible work environment, we are going to include spaces with soundproofing, soft natural ventilation, spacious changing rooms and an adapted and warm dining room,” explains Maxime Piperel.
FM Logistic is highly committed to the sustainability and decarbonisation of the logistics and transport sector. In addition, the FM Logistic logistics warehouse in Illescas has, in all its built modules, the LEED Gold® Certification, a certification system for sustainable buildings, developed by the United States Green Building Council (Usgbc).
In the same way, Maxime adds that the materials that will be used for the construction of the new module are sustainable: “all the components that we use in all our constructions pass very demanding environmental compliance filters.”
The Illescas warehouse is located in the Íberum Central Platform, a logistics and industrial area of more than 3.5 million square meters. “It is the most environmentally friendly and sustainable industrial space in Spain, contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint and becoming the first Eco-Polygon in Europe”, concludes Álvaro Íñiguez.
