When flaming weeds in his driveway, an 85-year-old in the Kusel district unintentionally triggered a fire brigade operation. As the police announced on Saturday, the fire spread to the garage and two cars parked in it on Friday afternoon. The 85-year-old was able to drive the car out of the garage, but contracted smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital.
The cars were said to be severely damaged. The fire brigade quickly got the fire under control in the municipality of Schönenberg-Kübelberg with almost 30 emergency services. The property damage is estimated at a mid five-digit amount. The police began investigations.
