Germany is probably still a long way from the conditions currently prevailing in Greece and Italy. But forest fires are also becoming more likely here. June was the second sunniest since weather records began. While the heavy rain was pattering over the northern center of Germany, the south-west was drying out. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), June was between two and three degrees warmer than in the comparative period from 1960 to 2020. Climate change is making itself felt, meteorologists and climate researchers agree.
