Four people were slightly injured in a house fire in Rinteln (Schaumburg district). These are residents of the house in the Goldbeck district, the police said. The cause of the fire on Monday night was still unclear.
The four residents escaped from their apartment on the first floor via a ladder on the balcony. “They were lucky. The ground floor was already in full fire at the time,” said a police spokeswoman. The people suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to a hospital.
There was a restaurant on the ground floor of the building. The fire burned for several hours before firefighters put it out in the morning. As a precaution, the emergency services also tore off parts of the facade. According to the police, 115 firefighters were deployed. The house is no longer habitable for the time being.
