The actors Katharina Stark and Zethphan Smith-Gneist have been awarded the “Bunte New Faces Award Film”. The 25-year-old and the 22-year-old were honored with the acting talent award on Thursday evening in Berlin’s Delphi Filmpalast.
Stark was recognized for the lead role in the Disney series “Deutsches Haus”. This is dedicated to the first Auschwitz trial in Frankfurt (1963-1965). Katharina Stark, who lives in Bavaria and London, plays an interpreter. “She shows a range that we definitely want to appreciate,” said the jury.
Smith-Gneist, who lives in Berlin, received the award for his performance in the film “Tár”. The focus is on Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) as the first female chief conductor of a major German orchestra. Smith-Geist plays Max, a young student in the ensemble. The jury praised him for his energy, authenticity and “fascinating physicality”.
Anna Roller received the award for best debut film. For the film “Dead Girls Dancing” she spoke to young girls shortly after they graduated from school about their fears and hopes.
With the “New Faces Award” the “Bunte” annually honors the most creative young talents in the film, style and music categories.
