In view of the ongoing farmers’ protests, the police union (GdP) sees the emergency services at their limits. Chairman Jochen Kopelke told the newspaper “Rheinischen Post” (Wednesday edition) that the numerous Germany-wide campaigns have so far been supported by many more people than expected. “That means this big, massive wave of protests won’t subside anytime soon.” Specifically, it’s about more police officers, modern equipment for water cannons, for example, and more money for the riot police in order to be able to cope with this year. The state parliaments and the German Bundestag must therefore “react quickly”.

Many emergency services have reported peaceful and orderly protests so far, said Kopelke. The cooperation on site works excellently. “We police officers receive a lot of thanks from the meeting participants for our efforts.”
