Unfortunately, most non-alcoholic (sparkling) wine available in supermarkets is either acidic like vinegar or sugary like sparkling wine. Therefore, when buying the non-alcoholic versions, make sure that the grapes have been fermented first, just like with the production of conventional wine.
The non-alcoholic sparkling wines still don’t taste exactly like the real thing, but they can definitely impress. We were particularly impressed by two different sparkling wine brands. Vinada from the Netherlands and Ein-Zwei-Zero from Germany, which use traditional production methods and allow the grapes to ferment for several months before removing the alcohol using patented vacuum technology.
Vinada Crispy Chardonnay 0.0%
This dry, sparkling Chardonnay from France’s Languedoc is packed with aroma and flavor. With notes of melon, apple and citrus, it is crisp and refreshing with plenty of bubbles. The Vinada Crispy Chardonnay is the 2021 Gold Award Winner at the IWCS Awards and is truly a great substitute for the traditional Brut.
One-Two-Zero Sparkling Riesling 0.0%
The German wine manufacturer Leitz is behind this wonderful non-alcoholic sparkling wine, which is made from 100 percent Riesling grapes. Grown and produced in the Rhine, Riesling sparkling wine is dry and slightly acidic, as is typical of Riesling grapes, and has notes of citrus and apple. The acidity of the Riesling grapes goes perfectly with fruity aperitifs.
Vinada Tempranillo Rosé 0.0%
This fresh and crisp rosé is slightly sweet and full of bubbles. Produced in La Mancha, Spain from Tempranillo grapes, it is semi-dry, fruity and flavorful. The Tempranillo Rosé is perfect for any celebration.
The non-alcoholic sparkling wines presented are vegan, low in calories and sugar and suitable for pregnant women. All the drinks presented in the “Zero Alcohol” series have been selected and tasted by the editors. They are only recommended if they meet our quality standards.
