In the UK, lawyers for four women are preparing a lawsuit against controversial influencer Andrew Tate over allegations of sexual assault. Legal documents were served on former kickboxer Tate, who is under house arrest in Romania on allegations of human trafficking and rape, on Wednesday, British law firm McCue Jury and Partners said.

Tate is accused of “violent rape, serious physical assault, and controlling and coercive behavior.” Depending on Tate’s response, “legal proceedings will be instituted against him in the High Court in London,” the law firm said. The four clients, aged between 20 and 30, relate to incidents between 2013 and 2016 when Tate lived in the UK.

Tate “categorically denies” the allegations, his spokesman said. Three of the women had already filed criminal charges in the past, but the proceedings had been discontinued. “What new evidence could have emerged nine years later that would overturn the court’s decision?” the spokesman asked.

Andrew Tate, 36, and his brother Tristan, two years his junior, were arrested in Romania at the end of December on allegations of human trafficking, rape and founding a criminal organization. The victims of the two brothers are said to have included minors. The brothers deny the allegations.

Andrew Tate, who moved to Romania with his brother a few years ago, was banned from several online services for making misogynistic comments, but still has around 6.9 million followers on Twitter. Among other things, he wrote that women who are victims of sexual assault are to blame for it themselves.
