TSV Hannover-Burgdorf suffered its first defeat in the Handball European League. Lower Saxony lost to the French representative HBS Nantes 32:38 (17:18) at the start of the main round on Tuesday. The Bundesliga club’s best thrower was Justus Fischer with seven goals. Aymeric Minne and Theo Avelange Demouge each scored ten times for the guests.

The Lower Saxony team started the game poorly and were behind 3:9 in the tenth minute. “This is fearful handball,” said Hannover coach Christian Prokop angrily during a timeout. Things got better with the goalkeeper change from Simon Gade to Dario Quenstedt. TSV turned 9:14 (18th) into 15:14 (23rd). Nevertheless, the hosts were one goal behind at the break.

The Hanoverians also got off to a bad start in the second half. Nantes increased the lead to 25:18 by the 37th minute and thus created the basis for victory. In the main round group 1, the Lower Saxony team, who had taken 4-0 points from the preliminary round, fell behind the French.
