A man got stuck in his car in the Ems flood in Meppen. Firefighters had to rescue the man on Friday, who was no longer able to free himself from his situation, a fire department spokesman said in the evening. The man drove along a closed farm road through a flood basin and then got stuck.
The water masses were so strong that rescue by boat was not possible. In the meantime, a special vehicle from the Bundeswehr fire department was also alerted. Ultimately, two firefighters in special suits pulled the man out of the flood on foot. The car stopped in the floods because it was too dangerous to rescue. Only a few days ago there was a similar rescue operation at the same location, said the fire department spokesman.
