The find of an angler could possibly contribute to solving a missing person case that has been going on for years: On Saturday, the man discovered a car that was completely under water in a pond in the Rußhütte district of Saarbrücken, in which police divers found a female body, a spokesman for the Saarland state police headquarters reported on Sunday. The vehicle was recovered on Saturday and has now been forensically examined.
Based on the number plate, it quickly became clear that the vehicle was owned by a woman from Saarbrücken-Dudweiler who had been missing since the end of December 2014. The identity of the dead will be clarified at the autopsy next Tuesday and the cause of death will be determined.
The case of the then 59-year-old woman was presented in the program “Aktenzeichen XY unsolved” in 2016. But despite many tips that were received after the broadcast, the whereabouts of the woman could not be clarified.
