A 51-year-old from the Czech Republic died under an avalanche in Austria. As the police announced, the skier had triggered a slab avalanche in the Carinthian ski area of ​​Mölltaler Gletscher. He himself was swept away and completely buried. Witnesses dug the man up. Her resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Even an emergency medical team that rushed to the scene of the accident in the rescue helicopter was no longer able to help. A search for any other buried victims was unsuccessful.

An avalanche also occurred in the state of Salzburg after the recent heavy snowfall. According to initial information, two people were buried. Helicopters and a dog team were also involved in the mountain rescue search operation with 22 men. The search was called off after several hours. The reports of missing persons have not been confirmed and there are no signs of anyone buried, reported the Salzburg mountain rescue service.

On Saturday, fresh snowfall of half a meter or more fell in large parts of Austria. The avalanche danger was classified as high regionally.
