Six people died in an avalanche in the French Alps. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the gendarmerie squad for the high mountains in Chamonix. The victims were on a ski tour. According to French media, two guides and four of their clients died. Channel France Bleu reported that they were in their mid-twenties to late forties and lived in different French cities.
The avalanche fell on Sunday afternoon on the Armancette glacier near Mont Blanc on the French-Italian border, according to French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
