The station has been open again since 6.45 p.m., the trains stopped again to get on and off, said a spokesman for the Federal Police of the German Press Agency. However, there could still be delays.
Around noon, the main train station was completely closed due to smoke from the fire, and trains were stopped at stops outside Schwerin. Since 5:00 p.m., trains have been able to roll through the main station again without stopping.
The fire had caused extensive impairments in local and long-distance traffic to and from Schwerin. A replacement service has been set up for travelers. According to the information, no one was injured by the fire according to current knowledge. Police say the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
