With a large-scale operation, the fire brigade in Simmertal, Rhineland-Palatinate, saved a car from falling into an excavation pit. A resident came too close to the pit when maneuvering on Saturday morning, but was able to get out of the car in time.
New supply lines are currently being laid in the very steep street. The fire brigade secured the vehicle on the abyss, as reported by operations manager Markus Schlarb. The car was later to be recovered with a truck-mounted crane. Around 40 emergency services were deployed. The police and rescue services were also alerted.
