Yesterday, on its 30th anniversary, the El Puente association claimed the fight for mental health with a gala that was held at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center in Valladolid, which brought together heads of local, provincial, regional and national institutions, as well as representatives of the cultural and sports society of the city, of the associative movement, social entities, companies, families, volunteers and members.
The act served to remember the three-decade trajectory that makes the entity, with almost 60 professionals and more than 1,000 people attended to per year, a “reference” in the fight for mental health in the province of Valladolid. Headquartered in the capital, in the Girón neighborhood, the association has a presence in rural areas, specifically in the towns of Medina de Rioseco, Tudela de Duero and Rueda.
“We work from a social model, in which people are the only protagonists of their own lives,” explained the president of El Puente. Rachel Barber. “From the entity we cover various areas, services… since support is exercised in the search and maintenance of a job, providing housing to those who need it and guaranteeing everything necessary so that the person can achieve their life project,” she added. .
An important representation of Valladolid society will attend as guests, with representatives of culture, sports, society and the media, among other areas. Specifically, the deputy mayor, Manuel Saravia; the general director of elderly people, people with disabilities and attention to dependency of the Board, Eduardo García; the president of the Diputación, Conrado Íscar, among others.
The gala ended with a performance by the saxophone quartet from the Valladolid Conservatory and two performances of Spanish Andalusian dance starring students from the Castilla y León Professional School of Dance.
