Nine people were injured in a traffic accident on the A38 near Leinefelde-Worbis (Eichsfeld district). A 51-year-old lost control of his van during an overtaking maneuver on Thursday night, the police said. The reason for this was therefore high speed and a rain-soaked road, partly covered with slush. The car skidded, rolled over several times and landed on its side.
All nine occupants were taken to hospitals, two of them with serious injuries. A truck was damaged by flying debris. The police estimate the property damage at around 25,500 euros. The route towards Leipzig was completely closed.
