His work is important and will be discussed. An evening will be held at the Cordonnerie to discuss Rachid Taha’s group, Carte de sejour.
People in their forties and fifties will probably recall Carte de sejour as a major group in alternative rock in the 1980s. People in their thirties will remember Rachid Taha (a Franco-Algerian singer who mixed rock and rai).
Thursday, June 2: These are the two pieces of the artist’s work, which he died in 2018. They will be the subject for an evening at Cordonnerie.
It starts at 6 p.m. with a meeting about Residence permit. Philippe Hanus, Armenian Heritage Center’s ethnopole, migrations and memories coordinator, will host a time for exchange and listening to music and videos.
It is possible to trace the route of this Rhone group from Rillieux–la-Pape to the most important international stages with its committed and mixed music. Contemporary music that reflects the struggles of descendants of immigrants such as the March against racism and for equality in 1983.
The Mexican Army group will then take the stage.
Although the name may seem unfamiliar to the general public, it is actually Rachid Taha’s former musicians who have come together to pay tribute. They will thus resume the repertoire of the artist they had the chance to accompany on tour. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m.
On-site catering will be available. Reservations are recommended. Information on La Cordonnerie’s website.
