In Dortmund, a police patrol alerted to a dispute discovered 40 dogs in the apartment of a 51-year-old woman. The animals, which were not kept in a species-appropriate manner, were transported to the animal shelter by the fire brigade, as the police announced on Tuesday. The veterinary office initiated administrative offense proceedings against the woman, and the police also initiated bodily harm proceedings because of the dispute.
The case was triggered when a 31-year-old passer-by wanted to settle a dispute between a man and a woman on the street on Monday afternoon. The dog owner broke the young woman’s glasses and pulled her hair. A police patrol alerted by witnesses finally discovered not only the woman but also her dogs in the apartment, which the police said smelled bad.
