Hedge broken through, car hit, house wall damaged – an evasive maneuver in front of a cat ended with a high level of property damage for a 19-year-old driver in Heringen/Helme. The young man was walking on a rain-soaked street in the Windehausen district on Sunday morning when a cat crossed the street, the police said.

The 19-year-old braked, lost control of the car and then the accident took its course: As a result, his car broke through a hedge and crashed into a parked car. The force of the impact threw the parked car against a courtyard gate and a front door. The two vehicles, wedged together, scraped along the wall of the house in the district of Nordhausen until they finally came to a standstill. The young man was unharmed in the accident and the cat survived the evasive maneuver. The total amount of property damage was initially unclear. However, the two cars alone suffered damage of around 20,000 euros.
