Illegal headlights, detachable steering wheel and too much horsepower: A heavily tuned car was completely destroyed in an accident on the A6 on Thursday. After the driveway at the Enkenbach-Alsenborn junction (Kaiserslautern district), the driver lost control of his car on a wet road, the police said in the evening. The car spun across both lanes, spun and hit the rear of the vehicle with the central barrier. He was then thrown back onto the roadway until his rear end hit the central barrier again.

The driver was uninjured, but he is in for some trouble, it said. “It was unfortunate for him that the officers who recorded the accident specialize, among other things, in the field of illegal modifications to motor vehicles,” said the police.

The sound of the sports car was more reminiscent of a jet plane than a small car. The vehicle had significantly more power than planned as standard. A “turbo upgrade kit” was installed. Other shortcomings: a detachable sports steering wheel without a horn and illegal headlights.

The driver now gets in trouble not only with the fine office – but also with regard to any insurance payments. “Customizations on vehicles are certainly possible and can be approved. But care must always be taken not to exceed certain limits,” it said.
