At least one shot was fired from a police service weapon during an argument in Hockenheim (Rhein-Neckar district). A man armed with a pistol was injured and taken to a hospital, a police spokesman reported on Monday evening on request. It was initially unclear how badly the 37-year-old was injured.
The police were called to a family dispute in the afternoon, the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) and the public prosecutor reported in a joint statement. “In the course of the operation, the deployed police forces had to use their firearms.”
The police spokesman said the operation was complete. According to a photographer, the fire brigade and rescue workers also came to the scene.
The medical care of the injured man is ongoing, reported the LKA and the public prosecutor’s office. No other people were injured. The LKA took over the investigation in coordination with the public prosecutor’s office in Mannheim.
