The suspected case of monkeypox that was pending diagnosis in Castilla y León has given a negative result for orthopoxvirus, so the disease has been ruled out, which accumulates up to 156 confirmed patients in Spain.

The National Microbiology Center of Majadahonda (Madrid) has today informed the General Directorate of Public Health of the Junta de Castilla y León of the negative result of the corresponding PCR that had been carried out after activating the action, epidemiological and care protocol, before a possible suspected case of monkeypox infection.

It is the second case that puts the alert around this disease in the Community and ends in a false alarm, as did the previous one, which was also ruled out on May 26.
