Diaz vs. Masvidal Undercard to Showcase Boxing Legend’s Son

The upcoming Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal boxing event has added an exciting co-main event to its lineup. Former WBA and IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs will be stepping into the ring against Shane Mosley Jr. on July 6 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The fight is scheduled to be a 10-round super middleweight bout, as confirmed by MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin and reported by ESPN.

Jacobs, a seasoned boxer, held the WBA middleweight title from 2014 to 2016 before losing it in a tough match against Gennady Golovkin. He later claimed the IBF middleweight title but surrendered it to Canelo Alvarez in 2019. In his most recent fight in February 2022, the 37-year-old Jacobs experienced a setback, falling to John Ryder in a split decision.

On the other hand, Mosley Jr. follows in the footsteps of his father, the legendary International Boxing Hall of Famer Shane Mosley, who achieved success across three weight classes in the late 90s and early 2000s. Mosley Jr., aged 33, holds a professional record of 21-4 and is currently enjoying a four-fight winning streak. His latest victory came against Joshua Conley in December.

Originally scheduled for June 1, the Diaz vs. Masvidal card was rescheduled to avoid overlapping with other major events like UFC 302 and the Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5 vs. 5 showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This new addition to the undercard promises an action-packed evening of boxing, as fans eagerly anticipate the showdown between Diaz and Masvidal in the main event.
