Forklifts and trucks are rolling on the Theresienwiese again from today: A good two months before the start of the Munich Oktoberfest, construction work for the festival begins, and the Theresienwiese becomes a construction site. Components from tents had been delivered days ago and are now piling up on the festival grounds. Entry is prohibited for security reasons.
At 8 a.m. in the morning, Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU) wants to be at the festival site to start construction. In the evening (5.30 p.m.) the Oktoberfest landlords present their mug.
The festival lasts from September 16th to October 3rd, i.e. 18 days and two days longer than usual. The Wiesn usually ends on the first Sunday in October. Because the holiday on October 3 falls on the Tuesday after, the bridge is made. Baumgärtner therefore expects an “XXL Oktoberfest” – “without Covid and thus a real Oktoberfest feeling”.
The beer and drink prices at the Oktoberfest in Munich are an excitement every year. A beer mug will cost between EUR 12.60 and EUR 14.90, with an average of EUR 14.18. According to the city, the guests have to pay an average of 6.12 percent more for the liter of festival beer than last year. The average price for a liter of table water in the Wiesn beer tents is 10.04 euros, compared to 9.67 euros last year.
